It happens often in the volleyball world. Someone sprains and ankle and they head straight for a bottle of Ibuprofen. Well DON'T. Ibuprofen thins your blood. And when your blood is thin, you bleed more. And when you bleed more, inflammation is worse. And when inflammation is worse, healing time is longer.
Want proof? The famous sports med Dr. Moats wrote an article about it. Read it carefully and pay attention! R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) is the best way to treat for the first 72 hours.
